Trusting God When Fortitude Fails You

Finding Peace in the Presence of God

Jesus called her daughter

“Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. Your suffering is over. Mark 5:34 NLT

This woman had been bleeding for twelve years. She had sought the help of doctors but her condition worsened. She was broken both physically and financially. She would have been considered unclean and not allowed to be out in a public place. This woman tried worldly means to heal herself and when those failed, she needed a savior. This woman had heard about Jesus and believed if she could just touch the hem of His robe, she would be healed.

She made her way through the crowd and touched His cloak. She immediately felt her healing. And Jesus felt power had gone out of Him. Jesus looked for the one who touched Him and she came and fell at His feet in fear.

But Jesus was not angry. He didn’t chide her for touching Him. Instead He told her faith had made her well. Her suffering was over and she could go in peace. He called her daughter.

How many years do we suffer in pain? How many days and weeks go by while we try to fix ourselves? I believe sometimes we get so comfortable in our pain that we stop looking for an answer. At least being in pain seems to be a truth we can acknowledge.

We think we have tried everything. As we search and research we forget we have a Savior. This doesn’t mean we don’t seek help from others. It just means we cannot forget to keep our eyes on God through the process. And we must remember our Savior understands our pain because He took the pain of the world on the cross.

If you suffer whether physically, spiritually or mentally; just reach out to touch the hem of His robe. Seek Jesus in your healing and expect it as His daughter.

About Me

I love God who loves me. I am a wife and mother. I have spent most of my life keeping God at a distance. Of course He was always right here with me. In a world where we may feel we can never measure up, God tells us “we are fearfully and wonderfully made”. I had so much guilt and shame that I developed from a childhood experience. Because of my guilt and shame I often felt unworthy and sinful. I often tried to do the “ right thing”, but I found it easier to just accept who I thought I was and would always be. Giving my life to Jesus gave me freedom but I held on to my old beliefs far too long. I hope to encourage others to seek God in all things and trust in Him and not the world.
