Trusting God When Fortitude Fails You

Finding Peace in the Presence of God

He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not, He Loves Me, He Loves Me, He Loves Me

I remember as a young girl my friends and I playing the flower game. If you liked a boy and just happened to come across a flower you would remove each petal while speaking the words, “He loves me, he loves me not”. Each petal represented love or not love. I honestly cannot remember ever picking all the petals off the flower. My girlfriends and I would just dramatically exclaim “he loves me” and fall over giggling. At that age we did not really love the boys and the boys mostly tolerated the girls. Unless-you could kick a ball really far in another game called “kick-ball”; then you were a hit.

I wonder how many people we come across each day that do not feel loved. How many do not know they are loved by God. If you watch almost any news outlet for about five minutes, you would see a world that needs love. A world that needs to know they are loved. How lovely it would be if everyone knew they were unconditionally loved by God.

“This is love- not that we have loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as atonement for our sins.” 1 John 4:10 TLV

We may not feel called to preach or evangelize but we are all called to love one another.

“Loved ones, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” 1 John 4:11 TLV

Pray for the boldness to tell a stranger they are loved by God. They may be open to hear more. It may be someone you see often that needs to hear they are loved. If you do feel led to tell them then let your actions tell them.

“But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfect harmony” Colossians 3:14 TLV

Pick a flower and remember when you wonder if you are loved by God, it’s always “He loves me”!

About Me

I love God who loves me. I am a wife and mother. I have spent most of my life keeping God at a distance. Of course He was always right here with me. In a world where we may feel we can never measure up, God tells us “we are fearfully and wonderfully made”. I had so much guilt and shame that I developed from a childhood experience. Because of my guilt and shame I often felt unworthy and sinful. I often tried to do the “ right thing”, but I found it easier to just accept who I thought I was and would always be. Giving my life to Jesus gave me freedom but I held on to my old beliefs far too long. I hope to encourage others to seek God in all things and trust in Him and not the world.
