Trusting God When Fortitude Fails You

Finding Peace in the Presence of God

The First Ingredient Is Love

My cousin Lisa is a great cook. She can take any basic recipe and make it special. Lisa’s love languages are cooking, baking and giving. She bakes breads and cake with flavors that give an excitement to them you didn’t know you wanted. She puts Conecuh sausage in bread. She makes bread with berries from her own back yard. She makes pound cake that entices you to just say yes instead of no, and more instead of less. I have had this pound cake. I told her I was watching what I eat so I would just take a small slice. I “watched” myself go from one small slice to half the loaf! Like I said; Lisa is a great cook. One thing that makes her such a good cook is that she starts all of her recipes with the same ingredient. That first ingredient is love.

Our Heavenly Father gave us living bread. He gave it to us because He loves us. He gave us Jesus.

“Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.””
‭‭John‬ ‭6‬:‭32‬-‭33‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God sent His son to give us life. God did this because He loves us. God’s first ingredient is love.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God loves us. He wants us to spend eternity with Him. God begins everything with love.

Every time you smell fresh baked bread or cakes, remember you are loved by God. He loves you even if you do eat half the pound cake.

About Me

I love God who loves me. I am a wife and mother. I have spent most of my life keeping God at a distance. Of course He was always right here with me. In a world where we may feel we can never measure up, God tells us “we are fearfully and wonderfully made”. I had so much guilt and shame that I developed from a childhood experience. Because of my guilt and shame I often felt unworthy and sinful. I often tried to do the “ right thing”, but I found it easier to just accept who I thought I was and would always be. Giving my life to Jesus gave me freedom but I held on to my old beliefs far too long. I hope to encourage others to seek God in all things and trust in Him and not the world.
