Trusting God When Fortitude Fails You

Finding Peace in the Presence of God

Law Abiding Citizens

“For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of Law”. Galatians 3:10 NIV

If you believe your way to heaven is by following the law then be prepared to follow ALL the laws. In the Torah there are 613 commandments that include the 10 most of us know. In the book of Galatians, Paul tells us that ALL the laws must be followed and performed or you will be cursed.

Can any of us say with truth, “ I have kept all the laws”? I know I cannot. But my Savior Jesus can. And because He can, I am redeemed.

“Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, by becoming a curse for us-“ Galatians 3:13a NIV

The Law was given because of man’s wrongdoings. Man cannot fulfill all the requirements of it.

“So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith, now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian. So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.” Galatians 3:24-26 NIV

With the Law you have many, many rules to follow and to follow consistently.

With Jesus, you have grace because Jesus is grace, and you will have acceptance and love consistently.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8 NIV

About Me

I love God who loves me. I am a wife and mother. I have spent most of my life keeping God at a distance. Of course He was always right here with me. In a world where we may feel we can never measure up, God tells us “we are fearfully and wonderfully made”. I had so much guilt and shame that I developed from a childhood experience. Because of my guilt and shame I often felt unworthy and sinful. I often tried to do the “ right thing”, but I found it easier to just accept who I thought I was and would always be. Giving my life to Jesus gave me freedom but I held on to my old beliefs far too long. I hope to encourage others to seek God in all things and trust in Him and not the world.
