Trusting God When Fortitude Fails You

Finding Peace in the Presence of God

Casual Friday

At one time I worked in an office. While the dress code was not professional, it was business casual. After a few days of tucked in shirts, skirts and closed toe pumps, casual Friday felt like a pajama party. This was before athleisure was acceptable in an office setting. Back then only P.E. teachers and coaches could get away with that. My cousin Kara is a P.E. teacher. She has three levels of athleisure; basic athleisure, dressy athleisure, and formal athleisure. For the rest of us fortunately, sometimes a stretchy pair of pants with the right top works.

How do you see God? Is He professional? A God you can only speak to using complete sentences while standing up straight? Is He business causal? You still have to use complete sentences but you can be seated while talking to Him? Or is He casual Friday? You can relax and just talk?

Our Heavenly Father takes pleasure in us. He is not waiting until we are dressed in our finest attire.

“For Adonai takes pleasure in His people; He crowns the humble with salvation.” Psalms 149:4 TLV

Even in our joggers, we still hold Him in reverence, and He delights in us.

“Adonai delights in those who revere Him, in those who trust in His loving kindness” Psalms 147:11 TLV

We don’t have to dress up to speak to God. We don’t have to dress down to speak to Him. He wants us to seek Him because we want Him in our lives.

“Adonai is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth” Pslams 145:18 TLV

God loves you. Formal you, casual you, or somewhere in between. He loves you always, and He is waiting to hear from you.

Pray for Israel 🇮🇱

  1. Great blog today! Thank you for today’s blog!

Isn’t it just beautiful to know that God is our friend and waits for us to have a conversation with us? I love talking to him all day long in many little ways.

About Me

I love God who loves me. I am a wife and mother. I have spent most of my life keeping God at a distance. Of course He was always right here with me. In a world where we may feel we can never measure up, God tells us “we are fearfully and wonderfully made”. I had so much guilt and shame that I developed from a childhood experience. Because of my guilt and shame I often felt unworthy and sinful. I often tried to do the “ right thing”, but I found it easier to just accept who I thought I was and would always be. Giving my life to Jesus gave me freedom but I held on to my old beliefs far too long. I hope to encourage others to seek God in all things and trust in Him and not the world.
